Piero Lissoni![]() Piero LissoniArchitect Piero Lissoni creates across all areas of design: industrial projects, graphics, art direction, architecture and hotel interiors, private homes, showrooms, shops and yachts. Lissoni’s trademark is understatement, while generosity and elegance are features he designs into globally-known brands. Too easily labeled as a minimalist, Piero Lissoni places crucial importance on allowing different styles to coexist in all contexts. After receiving a degree in Architecture from Milan’s Polytechnic University, he and Nicoletta Canesi founded Lissoni Associati in 1986 and Graph.x in 1996. Since that time, he has worked with Boffi as artistic director for the company’s global development, relaunching the bath and kitchen as new “cult rooms” and designed the most important Boffi showrooms in Europe and abroad. His “Esprit” and “WK6” kitchens were selected for the Compasso d’Oro (Golden Compass) award in 1991 and 2001 respectively, and “Table System” received the Best Kitchen Award from Elle Décor International in 2006. Currently, Lissoni Associati Milano and Graph.x, employ approximately seventy architects, designers and graphic artists who design projects for many well-known brands: Alessi, Artelano, Boffi, Cappellini, Cassina, Flos/Antares, Fritz Hansen, Glas Italia, Kartell, Knoll International, Living Divani, Poltrona Frau, Porro and Tecno. Piero Lissoni is Artistic Director for Boffi, Lema, Living Divani, Porro and Tecno, ensuring his supervision of all design choices. Forays into fashion include corporate image and shop design for American clothing designer Elie Tahari; as well as work with Italian fashion houses Benetton, Sartoria Santandrea and Frutta/Indian Rose. Among Lissoni’s more recent jobs are a villa near Como (2005); the “Monaco & Grand Canal” Hotel (2002-2004) and the “Bacaro” bar-restaurant (2003) in Venice, the “Bentley” Design HotelTM (2002) in Istanbul, the “Al Porto” Design HotelTM on Lake Zurich (2001), and the “Mitsui Garden” Hotel (2005)in Tokyo. In collaboration with the Luca Brenta Yacht Design Studio, he designed the interior of the yacht “Ghost” (2004) for a New York collector. Launched in 2007, Luciano Benetton’s motor yacht “Tribù” wears the interior design of Lissoni. The year 2007 also saw the inauguration of the first BY showroom in New York -- a sales partnership among Boffi, Living Divani and Porro -- with the aim of offering a complete home furnishing system, followed by other shops in Munich, Lyon, Los Angeles, London and other key cities.
